Dee Dee & Kyle's Outdoor Wellington Wedding
Deanna contacted me about 5 weeks before her wedding. She comes from a very artistic family and was having a homespun wedding on her parents' beautiful land in Wellington, Ohio. As with many DIY wedding couples, they are working so hard on so many of the details of their wedding that they suddenly realize how important it is to hire a professional to capture their wedding day and not take any chances. In my opinion (and of course I really love and value photography) it is the most important thing to spend your money on.

Something sexy...
Have you ever thought about creating some sexy images of yourself - either as a gift to your special someone or just for yourself? There has been a resurgence of "Boudoir" photography in recent years. These are NOT pornographic shots, but sexy in however you define sexy. That could be sweet sexy, sultry sexy, campy sexy, vampy sexy, natural sexy, etc. You don't even have to show much skin - It is all in your attitude, the mood and the location.

Kat's Headshots
For theater headshots it is really important to figure out what your casting type is. You need to create a look that works for how you tend to be cast. Amy & Greg's E-Session
Amy found out about me because she gets her hair done at Adeva. She contacted me, we met and looked at my wedding albums, and I created a custom package for her wedding photography. For all weddings over 6 hours, I throw in an engagement session for free. I do this for several reasons. 1. It is a fun way for me to get to know the couple. 2. It is a chance for me to take portraits of them in some cool locations during a session with no time constraints. And most importantly 3. The e-session is the BEST way for my couples to learn how to relax in front of the camera, get used to my style, and hopefully learn how to completely ignore (unless I get their attention) so that on their wedding day they stay focused on each other and the moment.

Alyssa wanted to start her session at Cascade Park in Elyria because it holds a special place in her heart because it has been an important place for her family for years. Rachel's Grad Session
Rachel is a recent graduate of Oberlin College and she is leaving town soon to move off into the world. She contacted me because she had never had a senior portrait taken in highschool because her choices had been the traditional cheesy background shots that you see at the generic photography studios. That hadn't appealed to her at all. But Rachel is smart enough to realize how important it is to document yourself at a young age and what better way than to commemorate the important moment of graduating from college.

The Ultra Senior Session
I wanted to take the idea of a "Trash the Dress" session, but instead of a bride wearing her wedding dress, I would take some of my favorite recent seniors and take them out in their prom dresses. To tell the truth, while I love the images often obtained during a TTD session, I have been hesitant to potentially ruin an expensive wedding dress. So a prom dress was perfect because the girls would probably NOT be wearing them again and if some of the dresses got ruined, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Welcome Aarohi
Our good friends have just adopted a beautiful little girl named Aarohi which means ascending musical scale. I offered them a sitting as a welcoming present. It is such a miracle to witness a new family being created. Aarohi has a wonderful and hilarious personality and her parents are quickly getting the hang of the parenting thing - they are total naturals.

Elizabeth's Maternity Session
Rob and Elizabeth contacted me to create some photos before their second child was born. They were busy finishing up various obligations and Elizabeth's due date was rapidly approaching. We set up a date and crossed our fingers that she wouldn't deliver before the photo shoot! They really loved my natural and real approach to photography and wanted the photos taken in and around their home.

Local Newspaper Coverage of the Studio
There are so many wonderful things about living in a small town including the support I have been receiving for opening a new downtown business. Our local paper just published a front-page article about me and the studio and people have been coming up to me all week talking about it.

Alex and Sandhya's Love-session
Alex approached me with an idea for a surprise anniversary present - a love session with ME! I was thrilled and we set about planning. He took his wife out to breakfast with the request that they dress up a bit, then after breakfast, we met at my studio and SURPRISE! You don't have to be engaged or just married to take romantic photos! Book a lovesession today!

Kevin Ray's Headshots
The challenge with photographing an opera singer is that you have to convey drama and personality and spirit with just their face. You don't have their instrument to rely on to tell the viewer what they do. The photo has to catch your eye and draw you in.

Eliza's Senior Session
So, we started out in my studio and took advantage of my fun fabric selection as backdrops, then we headed out into nature to find some cool locations. We selected an amazing abandoned farm, a beautiful field and a cool fence. I love offering a variety of images for my seniors and their families to choose from. Everyone is happy and it is super fun as well.

Hannah J.'s Senior Session
I was happy to create images of Hannah. She is fun and free-spirited and has a great sense of style. She wanted something classic, but was willing to play around with some of my ideas. I think we hit it out of the park. The images I got in my studio (which was my first official session in my new space, btw) are gorgeous and remind me of Brigette Bardot on the one hand, and Doris Day on the other. Just classy and gorgeous.

Drew & Maureen's Day-After Session
What I love about day-after sesions is how much more relaxed and creative I can get with my clients. There is no pressure to get back to the wedding, or feeling like anyone is missing out on something, or worrying about the vows (if we are doing a before the wedding session). Here the couple just got to revel in the glow that comes from getting married. And Maureen's hair looked so sexy too!

Jenny & Jack's E-Session
When Jenny heard we were moving to Ohio, she called me up and asked if I would photograph her upcoming wedding. We agreed on a package and I told her I include an engagement session for free because it is a really great way for me to get to know my couples and for them to get used to being photographed by me. I get a chance to see how they photograph, what type of images they respond to, and they get used to relaxing and forgetting I am there. All of this adds up to better wedding images.

The Big Move is Here!
Well, it is finally here. I am shoving off. Our house is sold, our things are in storage. B is already in Ohio at his new job and I am taking off on a road trip with the boys. I had to try to pack everything we would need for 7 weeks of living without our stored items. Not so easy to come up with this list. I also had to have room in the car for my computer, monitor, hard drives, cameras, and US of course.

Emerson Graduates from Preschool
My big guy graduated from preschool today. He started at Learn and Play Preschool when he was 2 years old, going 2 mornings a week. It was just the break we both needed. He always had a blast there and the teachers are amazing. They somehow managed to teach my son all his letters and the sounds they make without him ever "wanting" to sit and learn these things. Usually he would build with blocks, building his inventions. But the teachers really make learning fun and they encorporate learning into all kinds of activities. So he was learning without actually realizing it. Amazing.

Lauren & Todd's E-Session in Newport, RI
Lauren and Todd are getting married later this summer and when we discussed places for their engagement session they immediately asked if I would travel to Newport, RI. I said of course. I had actually never been to Newport, but I had heard endless stories about the beautiful mansions there. This place is gorgeous. There are mansions along the coast line and you can walk right along the edge of the water and enjoy the views in both directions.

I have been super busy this past weekend. I took a quick trip to Ohio to look at houses (I didn't see any that blew me away), but I did love checking out our new town by myself. I even saw a movie by myself (all you new moms know this NEVER happens). Very enjoyable.

Learn and Play Preschool Photos
I had the pleasure of photographing the kids at Learn and Play Preschool in Acton for the third time. This is so much work, but so much fun. And I love being able to offer my images at affordable prices to all the parents in the school. The youngest kids are definitely the most challenging since they have NO IDEA what we are doing. It is hilarious. Luckily the parents love all the expressions I capture.

Life and Changes
Life has been really crazy around here lately. My husband has found his dream job. There is just one catch, it is a job working for our alma mater, in Ohio. Big changes, big move. The timing is great for our kids because they haven't started school yet, but it is always scary starting over in life. I can't imagine leaving all my wonderful clients behind, not to mention our friends.

Modern Architecture in Concord, MA
Well, she called me up the other day and asked if I would lend my artistic eye to a beautiful and unique house that she is representing (she is a realtor). I made no promises (since architectural photography, in my opinion, is the most difficult type of photography) but agreed to give it a go. Well, this house is AMAZING and it wasn't hard to capture its incredible lines and beautiful spaces and artwork.
